: East of England Energy Group (EEEGR)

Kevin started his career as an ECITB apprentice, in Mechanical and Production Engineering at Lowestoft College and George Prior Engineering, fitting and technical drawing. Kevin joined the oil and gas industry in 1983 as an offshore technician but within 2 years was running a department in Stavanger, Norway, where he learned to speak Norwegian (test him)! Moving into business development and project management, he transferred back to the UK to work in the pipelines division, working on major safety projects before becoming region manager for the Asia pacific region based in Singapore. The next few years saw Kevin developing businesses in Thailand, Europe, Singapore & Australia before moving back to the UK permanently in 1999. He rescued a failing oil and gas manufacturing company and then moved into consultancy, working in contracting, International Security, Bolt Tensioning and Management Development.

Then in 2006 Oilennium an eLearning company and EEEGR Member company was born. Oilennium rapidly gained international success and was a finalist in the EEEGR Innovation Awards! Kevin sold the business to Petrofac.

For the past few years he’s taken a back seat from the energy business whilst he developed an Award Winning, 15 plot, self-build, eco-house development near Norwich.

I’m very much looking forward to leading EEEGR through this next period of change in the energy industry in the East of England as we see the development of more windfarms, both offshore and onshore, solar, biomass, geothermal, gas, and of course nuclear in the shape of Sizewell C. Carbon capture and hydrogen production will hopefully be coming on stream in the foreseeable future and we aim to take the lead in helping those industries get established.

We will respond to member needs, hosting bigger and better events, help the supply chain and developers with better networking, education and skills development. Lobby local and national government and work with all stakeholders to boost this industry in our region and nationally.
