EEEGR 25 – Our Strategy and Purpose
Why We Exist
EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) exists to support, connect, and promote the energy industry across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex.
We unite business, education, and government to create jobs, investment, and skills that make our region the UK’s clean energy powerhouse.
Everything we do must link back to our 5 Core Principles for Energy in the East of England:
- Environment, Sustainability and Biodiversity
- Education, Skills and Job Creation
- Economic Prosperity
- Growth of the Supply Chain
- Regional Engagement
These five principles guide every decision, project, and partnership we make — from the House of Commons Reception to Skills for Energy, the SNS Conference, and every communication we publish.

Our Mission
To drive growth, skills and sustainability across the East of England’s energy sector — connecting people, projects, and purpose to secure a strong, low-carbon future.

Our Values
- Integrity – we do what’s right, not what’s easy.
- Collaboration – we achieve more together.
- Innovation – we look ahead and act boldly.
- Responsibility – we protect our people, planet, and finances.
- Pride – we celebrate the East of England and those who power it.

Our Quality Pillars
How we deliver our work every day:
- Professionalism – we plan well, deliver well, and represent EEEGR with pride.
- Accountability – we take ownership, keep promises, and learn from results.
- Consistency – every event, email, and interaction reflects our standards.
- Responsiveness – we listen, act, and adapt quickly.
- Impact – everything we do must add measurable value.
“Quality isn’t a task — it’s a habit we all share.”

How We Work Financially
We’re a not-for-profit business, but we must still run like a professional organisation.
Income:
• Membership subscriptions
• Sponsorships and events (SNS, Awards, House of Commons)
• Projects and partnerships
Costs:
• Staff, venues, technology, and marketing
What we do with any profit:
• Save a little for financial stability
• Reinvest the rest into work that supports our 5 Core Principles – skills, environment, community, and member value
In short:
“We don’t aim to make big profits — we aim to make a big difference.”
We must be strong enough financially to reward our people fairly, retain great staff, and run ourselves efficiently and proudly.
House of Commons Reception

It delivers on all 5 Core Principles by:
• Influencing policy on sustainability, skills and growth
• Showcasing companies and regional innovation

In short:
“They make the East of England smarter, stronger, and more connected.”
Our Website
Our website is our main public platform – the window to everything we do.
It’s where members, partners, government, media, and the public learn who we are and why we matter.
It exists to:
• Showcase our members through the online directory
• Promote upcoming events (SNS, Awards, networking sessions, etc.)
• Publish industry news and updates that keep the region informed
• Highlight skills programmes and career opportunities in energy
• Share EEEGR’s achievements and case studies
• Host the jobs market, helping employers and candidates connect
• Act as the evidence base when we speak to government or media — showing activity, momentum, and results
In short:
“Our website is our shop window, our information hub, and our public record.”
Keeping it up to date, clear, and professional builds credibility, supports our members, and strengthens every other part of our strategy — from PR and recruitment to event attendance and sponsorship.
Networking & Learning
Supports Regional Engagement and Community Building:
• Speakers Club: builds confidence and communication
• Networking Breakfasts & Lunch and Learns: encourage collaboration
• Site visits and local events: showcase member excellence
In short:
“Every event grows relationships and opportunities.”
Marketing, PR, and Communications
We do our own marketing and PR because it keeps our voice authentic, agile, and aligned with our 5 Core Principles. Remove all irrelevant and unused streams i.e Youtube, X & Facebook from Website.
• Newsletters: keep members informed and proud
• LinkedIn: builds our reputation and reach nationally
• Press releases: tell the region’s story to government and media
• Consistent branding: makes EEEGR instantly recognisable and trusted
• Remove all irrelevant and unused streams i.e Youtube, X & Facebook from Website.
• Consider creating an Instagram page with LinkedIn as our main focus.
• Maintain a central role in government engagement – meet with MPs, represent the energy sector broadly, and ensure regional interests are communicated, complementing Sector Council lobbying efforts.
In short:
“If people don’t see it, they can’t support it.”
AGM and Legal Obligations
As a company limited by guarantee, EEEGR must:
• Hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year
• Report transparently to members on our performance and finances
• Elect and confirm directors who guide the organisation
• Meet all legal and financial standards required of us
In short:
“The AGM protects our integrity, builds trust, and keeps us accountable.”
