Michael has had a rich and varied career within both the private and public sectors, A trained accountant initially he then went into the manufacturing sector working in family businesses, running a division of a PLC then setting up his own business. At the turn of the century, he moved into business advisory work and was soon running a large business and skills advisory Team covering the whole of Essex. He then went to Hertfordshire to run an Enterprise Advisory service and then moved into consultancy successfully delivering the UK’s No 1 performing rural development programme and raising funds for numerous business projects. He then joined ARU to manage their Innovation Centre in Chelmsford. Six years ago he joined Essex County Council and has led on the work focussed upon future economic growth in the 5 identified key sectors of the future including Clean Energy. Along with colleagues from Tendring District Council and Suffolk County Council he was instrumental in pulling together the group that ultimately became Freeport East. Michael holds an MBA from University of Surrey. Michael is married and has one son who works an an environmental consultant in the property industry.
