Andy Brown – Chief Operating Officer, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board
Andy has been in engineering since 1982 since he joined the Royal Air Force as an aircraft technician. During his career Andy worked on a variety of system platforms across different parts of the world as producer, supervisor, and shift manager. In the latter part of his career, Andy developed technical training and competence schemes and then moved into a training management role; responsible for leading a medium sized engineering training school.
In 2006, Andy joined the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board http://www.ecitb.org.uk/ providing training solutions for the contracting industry which supports all the UK process industries from Upstream Oil and Gas to Nuclear New Build to petrochemical sites to renewable energy production.
Andy was Director, Operations for ten years where he had responsibility for all UK based operations engaging with over 300 customers and 120 Approved Training Providers and Awarding Organisation Approved Centres. In this role, Andy was also responsible for bringing more cost-efficient training and assessment solutions to industry.
A firm believer in the industry benefits of the collective model, Andy stepped in as Interim CEO from February to June of 2023, and now sits as Chief Operating Officer. Andy’s drive is to support industry in maximising the development of the workforce to improve project productivity, improve the transferability of workers and prepare industry to deliver Net Zero.
