Shell

We have interests in 57 fields, operating 14 offshore production platforms and produce from one Floating Production, Storage and Offtake vessel and 23 gas fields.
We operate 2 Gas Plants and 1 Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) Fractionation Plant with a Marine Loading Terminal. The Gas Plants are located at St Fergus near Peterhead and at Bacton in Norfolk. The Mossmorran NGL Plant is at Cowdenbeath in Fife with the Marine Terminal about 4 miles south of the Firth of Forth.

Over the last ten years, Shell Expro has invested $5 billion in its mature fields, and another $5 billion in new fields. The £1.3 billion re-development of Brent is a prime example of how innovative technology has helped to unlock potential - transforming Brent from an oil producer into primarily a gas producer and allowing us to embark on the largest offshore depressurisation ever attempted. By doing this, we anticipate extending Brent by about 7 years. Activity level is still high with four drilling rigs operating in 2001 drilling 19 new side tracks and completing 134 well entries.

With highly challenging high pressure/high temperature developments like Shearwater, we and our co-venturers stepped into a new frontier for the UK Continental Shelf - pushing the edge of technology and innovation. Shearwater represents a major investment of over £875 million as well as an incredible feat of engineering resulting from the alliance that we formed with our key contractors Amec and Heerema.
