Eni CCUS Holding is a UK-headquartered carbon capture and storage (CCS) company, jointly controlled by energy-tech company Eni and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), part of BlackRock. Established to consolidate and develop Eni’s international CCS portfolio, the company is building a diversified platform of CO₂ transportation and storage projects across Europe to unlock industrial decarbonisation opportunities, leveraging decades of subsurface expertise, the conversion of offshore depleted gas fields into permanent storage sites, and the repurposing of existing infrastructure where feasible. The current portfolio includes Liverpool Bay CCS in the UK, the L10-CCS project in the Netherlands, Tellus CCS in the UK, and Bacton CCS in the East of England. The company also holds the right to acquire Eni’s 50% interest in the Ravenna CCS project in Italy and continues to assess additional opportunities internationally.

In the East of England, Eni CCUS Holding is present through its subsidiary Bacton CCS, which is developing a carbon transportation and storage project centred on the Bacton Gas Terminal and the offshore Hewett depleted gas field in the UK's Southern North Sea. The project will combine both pipeline and shipping connections and aims to provide a long-term decarbonisation solution for industrial emitters in both the UK and the European Union, with the potential to become one of the first EU-UK cross-border CCS initiatives. Bacton CCS builds on Eni’s longstanding presence in the region, where the company has been active since the 1960s through the development and operation of offshore oil and gas infrastructure, bringing decades of geological knowledge and operational experience to support the delivery of a new low-carbon energy industry. By enabling industrial decarbonisation at scale, Bacton CCS has the potential to support investment, safeguard and create skilled jobs, strengthen regional supply chains, and contribute to the long-term competitiveness of the East of England and the wider UK economy.
