Job Description

The Material and Corrosion Engineer will define the material of construction, develop and witness the quality controls requirements during fabrication, installation and commissioning of process equipment. During its operational life, you’ll verify the asset integrity by ensuring potential hazards are inspected for, maintained, and that critical elements are functioning to prevent process safety hazards, long downtimes or delays in operational activity.This role provides exciting opportunities to support the integrity management of equipment in the operational phase, as well as throughout all stages of projects with activities related to offshore/onshore installation.

​Based in the Great Yarmouth office with regular visits to Bacton and occasional offshore travel.  Expectation to spend a minimum of three days a week in the office or on site.

Provide expert guidance on material selection for diverse projects, ensuring compatibility and compliance with industry standards.•    Analyse and resolve material-related issues throughout the design, construction, and operational phases.•    Conduct failure analyses and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.•    Develop and implement effective corrosion control strategies, including coatings, cathodic protection, and material upgrades.•    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate material and corrosion considerations into project designs.•    Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and standards related to materials and corrosion.•    Stay current with advancements in materials science and corrosion engineering.•    Lead the creation and improvement of metrics, reporting processes, and systems to ensure performance, compliance, and asset integrity in line with business objectives.•    Coordinate and promote QA/QC programs and policies.•    Responsible for data collection, assessment and calculation of pipeline corrosion and monitor corrosion trends.•    Provide and implement recommendations periodically to monitor, inspect, mitigate and minimize control corrosion rates to acceptable levels.•    Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitors and provide corrective actions.•    Perform corrosion failure investigations and special corrosion related studies and review corrosion mitigation and monitoring activities in the field to identify the needed system modifications or procedural changes.•    Initiate and conduct special studies to minimise control corrosion to improve the facilities operation.•    Provide field technical assistance, assist in design and construction of corrosion control projects.•    Lead and provide expert advice on maintenance and operation of all corrosion related activities.•    Develop detailed scopes of work and contract agreements.•    Conduct field trials for newly recommended chemicals and/or technologies in collaboration with all related parties to select the best-in-class.•    Provide specialist support and advice to other departments within the organisation; including operations, inspection and engineering•    Effective planning and prioritisation of materials and corrosion discipline goals, tasks and projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget•    Keep abreast of new technology, industry trends and practices relevant to the reliability of assets through industry level engagement•    Technical screening of Management of Change requests, Maintenance Change Requests and Maintenance Deferral requests to support effective management of technical modifications and deviations•    Effective management of safety actions, verification audit findings, and lessons learned, to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner•    Undertake regular visits offshore to ensure a high level of awareness of platform status and to maintain a strong relationship with the offshore teams. •    Develop and review technical specifications, work packs and engineering reports
