About the Contracts & Procurement Specialist:
We are seeking an experienced Contracts & Procurement Specialist to join our team based in Great
Yarmouth.
Reporting to the Contracts & Supply Chain Manager, this is a varied and rewarding role that
combines both contract management and procurement responsibilities. You will play a key role in
supporting the business by drafting and negotiating contracts, identifying and managing commercial
risk, leading procurement activities and developing strong supplier relationships.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with operational teams, project managers,
finance, suppliers and clients, helping to ensure commercially robust solutions that support the
successful delivery of engineering and operational projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Contracts Management
▪ Drafting and negotiating commercial terms for client and supplier agreements.
▪ Providing contractual assessments during tendering and proposal stages.
▪ Reviewing client contracts, identifying commercial and contractual risks and presenting
recommendations to senior management.
▪ Preparing and managing Non-Disclosure Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding and
other contractual documentation.
▪ Managing contract amendments, extensions and contractual records.
▪ Supporting Operations and Cost Control teams in understanding contractual obligations,
variations and claims.
▪ Ensuring compliance with ODE and DORIS Group contracting standards and referring
matters outside delegated authority to the Legal team.
Procurement & Supply Chain
▪ Managing procurement activities from tender preparation through to contract award.
▪ Drafting Invitations to Tender and evaluating supplier submissions.
▪ Leading supplier onboarding and maintaining supplier databases.
▪ Undertaking supplier due diligence in accordance with Group governance requirements.
▪ Managing supplier performance, relationships and commercial issues.
▪ Providing procurement and expenditure information to Finance and Cost Control teams.
▪ Deputising for the Contracts & Supply Chain Manager when required.
Commercial Governance
▪ Ensuring compliance with company procedures, governance standards and the Code of
Conduct.
▪ Supporting commercial risk management throughout project delivery.
▪ Promoting best practice in procurement, supplier management and contract administration.
▪ Working collaboratively across departments to deliver value and continuous improvement.
Skills, Experience and qualities we are looking for:
Essential
▪ Experience within contracts, procurement or supply chain management.
▪ Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
▪ Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective
relationships with clients and suppliers.
▪ Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to contract administration.
▪ Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
▪ Ability to interpret commercial risks and provide practical recommendations.
▪ Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to demanding deadlines.
▪ Willingness to travel to other ODE offices as required.
Desirable
▪ Degree qualification in Business, Law, Procurement or a related discipline.
▪ Professional qualification in Contract Law and/or relevant commercial experience.
▪ Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.
▪ Experience within the oil & gas, energy or engineering sectors.
▪ Experience using the LOGIC suite of contracts.
▪ Knowledge of engineering, operations or maintenance support contracts.
▪ Experience managing supplier performance and commercial disputes.
