Energy’s Cygnus assets, commencing January 2026. The Cygnus field, located in the Southern North Sea, is the UK’s largest producing gas field and plays a vital role in supporting national energy security. It connects to the Perenco-operated terminal at Bacton and comprises a complex infrastructure of three bridge-linked Alpha platforms: AWHP – Wellhead Drilling Centre, APU – Processing/Utilities Unit, AQU – Living Quarters and Central Control Room.
Additionally, Cygnus Bravo is an unmanned satellite platform situated approximately 7 km northwest of Cygnus Alpha. This award follows Ithaca Energy’s acquisition of Eni’s UK upstream oil and gas assets in 2024, which added the Cygnus field to its North Sea portfolio.
Rod Agnew, Vice President Offshore Services at Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance UK, said: “Bilfinger is proud to continue and expand its longstanding partnership with Ithaca Energy – a relationship that spans over three decades. This new chapter on the Cygnus installations reflects a shared commitment to excellence and collaboration. To support a smooth transition, a dedicated team has been mobilised to oversee onboarding, with approximately 12 base personnel joining Bilfinger from the outgoing contractor.”
The second award sees Bilfinger securing a Fabric Maintenance and Scaffolding Support Services contract at the St Fergus SAGE Terminal with Wood PLC. This marks a return to a key strategic site for Bilfinger and enhances its operational footprint, while securing over 30 jobs in the region.
Bilfinger will strengthen the continuous improvement culture, adding both product and digital innovation over the course of the three-year contract.
Rod added: “Returning to the SAGE Terminal is a significant milestone for Bilfinger UK. This contract allows us to unlock the full potential of our skilled personnel, driving smarter fabric maintenance service strategies and delivering measurable efficiencies for our valued customer, Wood. By strengthening the culture of continuous improvement and leveraging digital innovation, we’re committed to enhancing asset performance and long-term value.
“These contract wins are a testament to the strength of our collaborative approach, built on transparency, trust, and a high-performance culture across both our onshore and offshore teams. We are excited to continue delivering exceptional service and value to our clients. Bilfinger UK remains committed to supporting the energy sector through innovation, safety, and operational excellence.”
