At Alderman Peel High School in Wells-next-the-Sea, students are staying late to design, build and solve real-world challenges, building the confidence and skills they need to step into the energy and engineering careers our region urgently needs. They are doing this thanks to Norfolk Community Foundation, EEEGR’s Charity of the Year, which has been working with Equinor to deliver the Dudgeon STEM in Schools Fund. This programme is giving young people in Norfolk a real head start in science, technology, engineering and maths.
This programme is proving how targeted community investment can inspire ambition in areas where opportunities are harder to come by. As the trusted charity partner managing community funds on behalf of major industry players, Norfolk Community Foundation is uniquely placed to connect business with grassroots impact. Working with many local providers, they continue to open doors for Norfolk communities to grow and thrive.
Sophie Skipp, Stakeholder Manager at Equinor, says, “We’ve got a skills gap and projects that address those skills gaps are the most exciting for me.”
