Peterson Energy Logistics has entered a partnership with Lowestoft & District Foodbank, committing to funding its delivery van hire costs.
The donation from the company, which has a base employing 30 people at the Port of Lowestoft, allows the charity to reduce its overhead costs and focus on fundraising for frontline services and products.
Lowestoft and District Foodbank is currently operated by The Rob Clarke Community Trust and last year supplied 18,000 people with emergency food.
Sam Porter from Lowestoft & District Foodbank said:
“We are delighted to have entered this partnership with Peterson. Against a backdrop of rising costs and increasing demand, to have this overhead dealt with is hugely appreciated so we can focus on delivering our vital service.
“Sadly, times are hard for so many. We see people from all sorts of backgrounds coming in for a whole range of reasons. It doesn’t feel like things are going to get any easier any time soon.”
Mark Jary, Operations Manager at Peterson Energy Logistics, said:
“The foodbank does amazing and vital work in our local community and is a lifeline to many families. We are pleased to play our part and support them in a way that makes a difference, allowing Sam and the team to focus on the people who need them most.”
