The EEEGR team has been touring the region this week as part of the Hydrogen East Roadshow in conjunction with Andy Holyland and Steve Ross of Hydrogen East and cluster Chair Anne Haase, Aquaterra Energy.
Over the past two days we’ve been lucky to be visiting venues on our beautiful coastline, firstly OrbisEnergy at Lowestoft, Tuesday at Holkham Hall at Wells-next-the-Sea and on Thursday moving back inland to Colchester.
Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk opened the session at Holkham by reiterating the importance of hydrogen development in the East of England and the huge opportunity it presents for us to become global leaders in this field – underpinning the need for a dedicated Hydrogen Cluster
The agenda differentiated over the week to include updates and introductions from developers and the supply chain, including interesting presentations from Sizewell C on their plans to for hydrogen powered plant and vehicles – it is anticipated that 150 hydrogen fuelled buses will be required at the peak of construction- and from Holkham Estate on the clean energy initiatives being put in place to achieve their vision of becoming “the most pioneering and sustainable rural estate” and their goal to become carbon negative by 2040.
Thanks to all presenters and sponsors joining us so far this week: 645 Ventures; LRQA; Freeport East; Sizewell C; Holkham; HydroGenus; RWE; EDF Hynamics; WRE – and sponsors East Suffolk Council , Connected Innovation and TCP.
Presentations will be available to all delegates shortly.
